Modern Bed Linen Choices

Bed linen, more specifically, cotton bed linens have undoubtedly become the rage in today's bedrooms.  You'll be able to get thread counts ranging from 180 clear up to 1000 nowadays. Most folks think that thread counts are the only good way to judge how good a bed sheet is going to be.

This isn't true. You also need to consider how long the thread is to really determine the strength and durability of your bed linen. What you want to look for is a longer thread, or fiber to start with.  You'll get that when you purchase 100% to your Egyptian cotton, followed by supima or Pima cotton which are close seconds as far as fiber length.

The longer the fiber the longer and stronger the resultant yarns are -- the stronger the fiber and fabric in your sheets on the bed will be.

Another thing to think about is whether it's one ply or two ply. Two ply means that the threads have been separated and woven back together so the manufacturer can sell it at a higher thread count than it would generally be.you'll be able to choose from not just your typical, traditional white and ivory colors.

Now you've at your disposal and full and lush color palette to match any bedroom decor you are able to imagine.  pearl, copper, lavender, sage, and sand are typical color options for bed linens these days.

You'll also find geometric patterns and stripes from thin to wide, and prints of every variety and type from animal designs to bold 60s flowery prints -- you'll find it all in modern bed linens these days.

Parvo Treatment – Test Your Knowledge

Spring is already upon us, which means that the Parvo season has begun, and there is an infinitely more aggressive strain of Parvo that is killing dogs at a scary rate. The 2c Strain can kill both fully-vaccinated adult dogs and puppies within 6-12 hours after symptoms first appear.

To see whether you're current with the latest Parvo situation, we've put together the following short quiz. These questions are all True/False:

  1. Parvo is a puppy disease and my adult dogs are safe.
  2. All of my dogs are up-to-date on their shots, therefore they are protected.
  3. I'm worried that my cat can get infected from my Parvo puppy, should I be?
  4. Foul-smelling dog diarrhea mainly comes from eating junk food.
  5. Canine Parvovirus is not contagious to humans.
  6. My vet quoted $750+ for Parvo treatments for my dog, I heard this is low?
  7. Parvo cannot survive snow and desert-heat temperatures.
  8. Parvo can only be spread via infected dog feces.
  9. Parvo can incubate from 3-15 days before symptoms appear.
  10. Parvo tests at the vet are always accurate.

People seem to have many misconceptions about Parvo. One thing is for certain, it will devastate your pet and can take him away from you if you don't take immediate action. Many times, people are taken by surprise and simply have no idea what to look for. Parvo symptoms can appear from absolutely nowhere - one minute your dog is playing and the next minute he is lying around, not eating, no energy - basically, not the dog you know and love.

The typical symptoms of Parvo can confuse you at first. You may suppose your dog has just swallowed something that disagreed with him, when in fact he may already be infected and very ill with the scourge of the Earth, Parvo virus.

This is the reason why we wrote Parvo Treatment 101, which is a FREE eBook that will help you learn much more about Parvo and what are the dog Parvo symptoms to look out for. We also talk about exactly what makes for an effective Parvo treatment.

Without a doubt, you will run across many treatments for Parvo, and we can shed light on their pros and cons, as we've done hours of research into the subject matter.

We hope you found this information both useful and interesting and once you download your free copy of our eBook, that will clear up many issues about Canine Parvo virus.

And finally, how did you score on our little Parvo Quiz? You'll want to miss no more than 1 ... Well, we can help you out. If you visit our Parvo Emergency Treatment Blog we will have all the answers to this quiz and perhaps other questions you may have on your mind.

Plumbing

I do the plumbing for dozens of homeowners every year that are doing their own basement development, home or bathroom renovation. For whatever reason these homeowners will do their own electrical, drywall, flooring, and painting, but will not touch the plumbing side of the work.

As an owner of a plumbing company I think this is great, but as someone who has done a ton of construction I am confused. I have done other forms of work then just plumbing and feel that plumbing is not as hard as other parts of the project. Yes, if you have a problem after you are in trouble. Maybe this is where the fear stems from.

Over the years I have done a lot of plumbing work and answered or solved many plumbing questions. Some questions as simple as what is plumbers tape, to other more complex questions such as how to balance a hot water heating system.

Most handyman type people, male or female, can easily tackle the smaller plumbing jobs. For instance repairing a faucet is far better done by the homeowner then a plumber who is charging $85 per hour. Even if it took you four hours compared with the plumbers two hours, you are still saving $170, or $42.50 per hour.

Often what stops people from working on their own plumbing systems is not having the proper plumbing tools to do the job the right way. There is nothing worse then having the water shut off in your house and not being able to turn the water back on later because you were not able to complete the job. For this reason alone many people will call me instead of creating that headache for themselves.

The next time you are thinking of taking on a small plumbing do a little bit of research to see if this is for you or not. A little bit of knowledge can go a long way.

Contact Lenses

Many people wear contact lenses. Contact lenses are a way for people who regularly wear glasses to be free of the glasses and still see just as well, if not better, than with their glasses.

Many years ago, contact lenses were hard and uncomfortable, often popping out unexpectedly and landing on the floor, much to the dismay of the wearer. But, times have changed. Fashion Contact Lenses have become comfortable to wear, and available even as bifocals or for people with astigmatism.

Contact lenses are even available in a variety of colors, for those who wish to see themselves with a different eye color than they were born with. These coloured contact lenses can be made for the wearer’s prescription just as regular contact lenses are.

Cheap Contact lenses are available from a person’s optometrist or ophthalmologist’s office, or to save money, prescriptions can be taken to a Target or Walmart store or ordered from one of many online suppliers. Be sure to check carefully before ordering online, to make sure the supply house you ordered from is legitimate.

The Better Business Bureau has a list of real companies, so you can check their website www.bbb.org before placing any online or telephone orders.

The contact lens wearer should be aware of some important things about contact lens use. Contacts need to be cleaned with a cleaning solution, and should not be worn overnight. The eye needs oxygen, so lenses should not be kept in the eye over an entire 24 hour period.

Eyes that are deprived of oxygen for too long can get infected, and the vessels in the eye can swell for lack of oxygen. This swelling can lead to permanent eye problems. So, be sure to clean the lenses regularly, and let the eye rest during sleep.

Besides oxygen, the eye needs moisture. Modern contact lenses are designed to act like sponges, retaining essential moisture in the eye. Still, the contact lens wearer may experience dryness from staring at a computer screen, working in air conditioned places, or strain from reading. There are many eye drop products that can help moisturize the eye while wearing contact lenses in these situations.

There are different types of contact lenses. Extended wear lenses can be used for a long time with regular cleaning and daytime only use. Disposable lenses are thinner and therefore more comfortable, but accumulate dirt particles quicker and tear more easily. They are designed to last for 2 weeks and then be replaced with a new, clean pair.

They are cheaper than extended wear, which need to be replaced every 3-6 months. The most recently developed lenses have very high water content, allowing for longer more comfortable wear. Still, cleaning is essential to avoid infection.

If your eyes do become very irritated or infected while wearing contact lenses, give your eyes a few days to rest, and throw away your lenses to avoid re-infecting the eye. It may be necessary to see your ophthalmologist for some antibiotic drops. Contact lenses can be enjoyable and freeing to wear, when done responsibly for the eye health of the wearer.
