Pregnancy Weight Gain: What To Expect

What is the correct weight gain for me? The appropriate amount of weight for a woman to gain during pregnancy depends on a couple of relevant factors. What was her pre-pregnancy weight, and is she carrying a single baby or multiples?

Women within a normal weight range might expect a gain of 25 to 30 pounds. If you are classified as underweight, expect to gain roughly 30-40 pounds. Obese females need to regulate the weight they put on more carefully, aiming at a weight gain under 15 or 25 pounds.

Those who are obese should not gain over 15 pounds. Eating well, having a good, well-formed diet and obeying the exercise program provided by your instructor is crucial here. If your having early signs of pregnancy alway contact your doctor right away.

If a woman is carrying twins, she can expect to pack on some extra pounds. The normal weight gain with twins is about 35 to 45 pounds.How will the extra pounds affect my body? As the pregnancy progresses and weight is gained, many women experience backaches and a serious sense of clumsiness due to the shift in their bodies' centers of gravity.

In certain instances, there are complaints because of inflammation of the lower limbs. This swelling is actually caused by the buildup of fluids in the body rather than the gaining weight. Again if your having early signs of pregnancy alway contact your doctor right away.

One symptom to watch for and report immediately to your healthcare provider is sudden swelling of the hands and face. These are a symptom of a potentially serious complication known as preeclampsia.

Is it possible to lose this weight? Absolutely yes. After you deliver your child you will lose a good portion of the weight you gained. There is a natural fluid retention your body will process over the next few weeks. With healthy eating and an approved exercise plan, you will soon meet your weight loss goals.

It is important to not become discouraged about weight loss. You put on that weight over the course of nine months and it will require that same amount of time to shed some of it. The important aspect is to continue with the options of wellness made during conception and backing it up with good workout and nutritious food.
