Cholesterol Laden Foods

There are many foods that you need to be aware of that are laden with cholesterol. It is important that you are aware of the many types of foods for the sake of your family’s health.

A List of Cholesterol Laden Foods

Interesting enough, a sheep or beef brain is on the top of the list for the most cholesterol in foods. Makes you wanna run out and buy a couple, eh? Well, rest assured I won’t be anytime soon!! That is for sure.

Next on the list is fish oil. While there are many good attributes for it, there are also precautions that you must know about. Fish oil has a lot of cholesterol.

Chicken liver anyone? – Well, coming in as number three on the list is tasty chicken liver. I think that I will pass on this one as well. I am sure that many of us will.

Raw eggs (especially the yolk) – I am sure that there are many people out there who love the incredible edible egg, right? Yeah, I do but it doesn’t like us so we need to eat them in moderation.

Beef bi-products – Liver or tongues anyone? Nah, I didn’t think so. There are many people who like to fry up a batch now and again. If the grease isn’t bad enough, then eat some bi-products to add more to your already high cholesterol.

Canned crustaceans? – Uhm you mean as in shrimp and fish? I don’t think so. There are many that you think in your mind are very good for you. So since they are ‘good’ for you, you decide to go ahead and fry them; making them better? I sincerely doubt it. They are still high in cholesterol.

Fast foods – Well, this is definitely a no-brainer (to say the least). Uhm, maybe or maybe not, who knows. Maybe you didn’t know that those morning biscuits and sausage were loaded with all the fattening grease? Perhaps you don’t think about it while driving down the road on your way to work? Who knows, but now you do.

Pork anyone? – Did you know that pork is high in fat and cholesterol already. They are some of the nastiest animals and eat just about anything. They are full of cholesterol and sadly enough, many people fry them in grease.

There are many types of food that are loaded with cholesterol. We can choose to be knowledgeable in what we do or we can continue feeding our bodies junk. The choice is yours!

Sit straight and arch your lower back

Get off the computer every so often to stretch

Try not to remain seated for extended periods of time. Allow your muscles and joints to rest by getting up and moving around.

When you do get off the computer, make sure it isn’t to smoke

When you do find yourself taking a break from the computer, make sure it is not to go smoke. According to the North American Spine Association, nicotine limits the blood flow to the intervertebral discs. Without a healthy disc, you may find yourself with future back problems.

Exercise on your time off

Incorporate any form of exercise that upholds hip flexibility, spine stability, core strengthening and extension of the lower lumbar regions of the spine. Pilates and Yoga are great examples.

Sleep with the right posture

Try sleeping on your side with a pillow between your knees. This will allow for your body to put less pressure on your back muscles.

What Is Acne?

I am sure that every one of you is somehow familiar with acne and acne treatments. Sometimes it seems as though everyone got that skin disorder, right? Acne is usually defined as an inflammatory skin disease that generally affects the tiny pores that cover the face, arms, back and chest, even the oil glands attached to them. Its technical name is acne vulgaris and is the skin disease caused by the interplay of follicular hyperkeratinization, the presence of Propionibacterium acnes bacteria in the follicular canal and sebum production.

Acne, according to certain studies, can vary from quite mild to tremendously severe. When the lining of the skin duct as well as the sebaceous glands start to work is when it is typically formed over time. As acne starts forming the lining of the duct actually sheds cells which are then transported away to the the skin by the sebum. The duct is blocked when the sebum and cells begin to amass forming a plug known by many as the comedo.

Subsequent studies have shown that once the plug stays below the plane of the skin, closed comedo or whiteheads occur. If the plug pops out of the skin duct and the top is dark, it is called a blackhead or open comedo. As was explained earlier, this is not just dirt, thus it will not wash away.

It is actually melanin, the dark tint in our skin, that causes the discoloration.

Approximately 80 percent of all teenagers suffer from acne according to certain studies. The onset of acne is commonly noted among people, ages 25 to 30, particularly for women. It is not certain as to what really causes the development and onset of acne in the teen years. When it comes to the formation of acne there are many different factors. It involves heredity, which is deemed as the most important factor that plays a role in the acnes development. As what most people believe, if a member of your family, either your parents or your grandparents, had acne, there is also a great possibility that you will have acne too.

Today, acne is treated in many different ways. So, acne does not need to control your life. If you have got problems with it, there are actually some prescription drugs out there you can use to treat such a disease. Since there are so many acne treatments available, you should always consult your doctor before starting any.

Sleep Apnea Snoring Can Be Serious

The second time I had to pull off the road to take a nap just on my way home from work was when I became worried.

I had never heard of anyone else napping just on their commute home from work. When my wife was complaining about me snoring was when I decided that I might have an issue with sleep apnea snoring. If your sleep apnea is severe, you can actually kill others because of it. If drinking and driving is bad, driving while sleepy is just as bad. Sleep apnea is a dangerous threat to yourself and others.

Snoring is the number one indicator of sleep apnea. The identical sleep conditions that cause snoring can cause severe sleep apnea. Muscles in the airways relax, causing the soft palate at the base of the tongue to obstruct the airway. This blockage results in an interruption in breathing while a person sleeps.

These interruptions in breathing, or apneas, can continue from five seconds to a minute. When breathing restarts, the result is a snore. This is a frightening fact: a sleep apnea sufferer can actually stop breathing anywhere from five to hundreds of times a night. Now we see why people with sleep apnea are so tired all the time.

It is very surprising how prevalent sleep apnea is. More than 12 million people in the United States are sufferers of this illness. However, a large swathe of sufferers remains undiagnosed because of a general lack of awareness among the general public and health care professionals. Risk factors include being overweight, male, and over the age of forty, but sleep apnea can strike anyone at any age.

The most common symptoms of sleep apnea include:

  • Choking or gasping whilst sleeping
  • Chest pain
  • Depression
  • Excessive daytime drowsiness
  • Headaches
  • Frequent urination through the night
  • Heartburn
  • High blood pressure
  • Mouth breathing
  • Inability to focus or concentrate
  • Short attention span
  • Personality changes
  • Snoring
  • Sexual dysfunction
  • Waking up still tired

If not treated, sleep apnea can cause serious health conditions. These include congestive heart failure, coronary artery disease, and stroke. Untreated sleep apnea may also be responsible for motor vehicle crashes, endangering not only your life but innocent others. Fortunately, sleep apnea is definitely treatable.
